“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God and whosoever loves has been born of God and knows God”
-1 john 4:7
“Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”
-1 corinthians 13:7
“Love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another”
-John 13:34
God is the very essence of love. He sent His Son to die for us and in our place. He so loved us He sent His son.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
-John 3;16
We are most like the people of God when we love. We can not love without the help of God.
As God’s people we are commanded to love others.
Loving like Jesus embodies our union with Christ.
Love is not always convenient. Love is hard.
To have something to grieve, is to have the absence of something you’ve loved.
I know I have written a lot about brokenness and suffering. It just seems to come up a lot in my life and the Lord is continually teaching me about them. My dad recently passed away and it makes me contemplate.
Grief is the guaranteed price we will always pay for love. All who love, will ultimately suffer.
God knew when He commanded us to love that we would suffer, yet He gave the command anyway.
There is no other way.
Suffering is at the very center of life and everything because love is at the very center of everything.
God will always understand our suffering because He stands with us through everything.
“God so suffered for the world that He gave up His only Son to suffering”
-Nicholas Wolterstorff
Though we suffer because of love, we get great reward because we love much.
We are never alone in our suffering, Jesus himself suffered. He knows all about suffering. No matter what you go through, He knows and understands.
God wants us to use our suffering and pain to love others through their pain. To give ourselves away to others.
Ann Voskamp says, “This life is a dare to break and give away Gods grace a thousand times, to stake your life on His grace a thousand times over, to live endless little cruciform deaths- until we fly away and are gone from here.”
Life is not about convenience, its about loving others and being inconvenienced. The willingness to be inconvenienced is a proof of love.
Are you willing to be inconvenienced?
Are you willing to love big?
I want to live my life in such a way that I show others great love. Through my pain I went to be able to help others.
Every day I live I pray that I can show God’s love to others.
